Afghan Paiwastoon Community Holds Regular Elections in Toronto

The Afghan Paiwastoon Community recently conducted its regular elections in Toronto, resulting in the appointment of a new executive board and the selection of a new General Director.

Throughout history, communities have continuously sought to strengthen social bonds, address everyday challenges, and overcome barriers that hinder collective well being and prosperity. These efforts reflect a shared commitment to building supportive, humane environments where individuals and families can thrive.

In the Greater Toronto Area, the Afghan Paiwastoon Community stands as a longstanding example of such commitment. Established several decades ago through the initiative and collaboration of dedicated Afghan individuals, the organization began its humanitarian mission with determination and a strong sense of social responsibility.

Over the years, the Community has demonstrated resilience and impact in the context of diaspora life. With the material and moral support of its members and the broader Afghan community, its humanitarian initiatives have extended beyond borders and positively influenced many lives connected to Afghanistan.

The Afghan Paiwastoon Community operates as a fully non political organization. It maintains independence from political parties both in Canada and abroad. Its primary objective is to provide essential services to Afghans and other residents of Ontario, with a particular focus on Toronto, while actively working to address community needs and challenges.

In accordance with its constitution, the organization holds elections every three years to appoint its executive board, committees, and president. On May 3, 2026, members participated in this democratic process, resulting in the election of a new leadership team for the upcoming three year term.

Following recommendations from the working board, adjustments were made to the size and composition of the executive body. This transition has welcomed new members alongside experienced individuals, bringing renewed energy and perspective. The newly elected team has committed to serving with integrity, transparency, and dedication.

On behalf of the members, sincere congratulations are extended to the newly elected President, Engineer Yar Mohammad Naeemi, as well as to all members of the executive board. Their leadership is entrusted with advancing the organization’s mission and strengthening its role within the community.

The Afghan Paiwastoon Community remains a shared home for all its members. Its preservation, growth, and continued success depend on the collective responsibility and engagement of the entire community.
